The founder of "Neo Pets" presents a new work Dragginz: a fusion of pet raising and an open world with Blockchain.
From Millions of Page Games to Blockchain Games: The New Journey of the Founder of "Neo Pets"
"Neopets" is a large web game that reached 140 million players in the early 2000s. Recently, the game's founders Adam Powell and Donna Williams have begun to venture into the Web3 gaming space, and are developing a blockchain game called Dragginz.
Dragginz is described as "Neopets meets Minecraft", blending pet raising and open world elements. The game is built on the Internet Computer Blockchain, aiming to provide players with a diverse gaming experience.
Adam and Donna stated that Dragginz was actually their initial concept for Neopets, but they were unable to realize it at the time due to technological limitations. Now, with the help of Blockchain technology, they finally have the opportunity to create the ideal game they envision.
In game design, Dragginz adopts some innovative NFT applications. For example, different parts of each pet are independent NFTs, and players need to collect them all to unlock their use. In addition, players can also create spell NFTs with practical uses and trade them.
In terms of token economics, Dragginz plans to use the SNS-1 token as the governance token for the game and rename it to DKP( Draggin Karma Points ). The team recently announced an adjustment plan for the tokenomics, including expanding the total supply to 1 billion tokens and eliminating the inflation mechanism.
Regarding the prospects of the game, Adam and Donna expressed their hope to create a high-quality game with outstanding content that can attract mainstream players, rather than just relying on tokens or NFTs for quick profits. They believe that as long as a truly attractive game is developed, mainstream players will naturally turn to Web3.
Dragginz is currently progressing smoothly in its development and is expected to launch in the second half of 2024 or early 2025. The team plans to conduct a small-scale test by the end of this year, with the main goal of testing scalability and the initial user experience.
As successful game developers in the Web2 era, Adam and Donna have high hopes for Dragginz. They aim to realize the concepts that were not achieved in Neopets through this game, while also contributing to the development of Web3 games.
