Trump's eldest son: The family was once blocked from banking services for political reasons, which led to Trump's shift in position on Crypto Assets.

On May 28, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Donald Trump, revealed at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that he and his younger brother Eric pushed for a shift in their father's stance on cryptocurrencies after their family was shut down from banking services for political reasons. Trump Jr. said the post-2016 "blanket lockdown" of family businesses (disruptions to banking, insurance, and other services) made him realize the fragility of the traditional financial system. Although in 2021 Trump had called Bitcoin a scam, he "quickly understood the technology" through the explanations of the two brothers.
