Abstract generation in progress

TAO and NEAR dominate the AI crypto space with a combined capital of over $7 billion, leading blockchain’s integration with AI infrastructure.

Render, FET, and Worldcoin underline AI’s growing use in compute, model hosting, and blockchain-based agent services.

Micro-cap projects highlight decentralized access to data, compute, and AI tools for scalable deployment across varied blockchain networks.

Bittensor (TAO) and Near Protocol (NEAR) now dominate the AI-focused cryptocurrency sector in terms of market capitalization. A recent report from Grayscale reclassifies NEAR under AI-related assets, signaling a shift from its earlier position in smart contract platforms. TAO currently holds a market cap of $3.8 billion, with NEAR close behind at $3.6 billion.

Grayscale’s updated report introduces a new classification of 17 digital assets in its Artificial Intelligence Crypto Sector. These projects are grouped into AI Platforms, Tools and Resources, and Apps and Agents. The classification is based on function, usage, and capitalization trends within the growing AI-blockchain convergence.

AI Platforms Hold the Largest Market Share

The AI Platforms category includes the highest-valued tokens. TAO and NEAR are at the forefront, representing the infrastructure layer essential for blockchain-based AI development. Their position underscores the importance of scalable systems that support decentralized machine learning and AI computation.

Beyond platforms, AI tools and resources, along with apps and agents, highlight AI’s extended role across blockchain environments. Render Network (RENDER) stands at a market cap of $2.5 billion. Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) follows at $2.3 billion, with Worldcoin (WLD) valued at $2.1 billion. These assets are linked to compute power, model training, and network interaction features.

Smaller Projects Show Infrastructure and Consumer Focus

Projects like Grass, io.net, and others are developing decentralized infrastructure for AI computing and data sharing. These platforms offer utility for AI processing at both the backend and application levels. Meanwhile, consumer-facing tokens such as Story Protocol (VIRTUAL), Theta Network (THETA) and Arkham Intelligence (ARKM) reflect AI’s role in media production and analytics.

Even tokens with valuations under $300 million, such as Venice.ai (VVV), Golem (GLM), and io.net, appear in the report. Their contribution lies in promoting decentralized computing and software access. These micro-cap assets aim to distribute AI resources more broadly across global networks.
