Long live freedom of speech! Meta no longer needs fact-checking, Musk approves!

Policy U-turn, Trump won't forget Mark Zuckerberg after becoming President of the United States, the social media founder who kicked him out of Meta and Instagram. Trump's new book, Save America, published last year, warned Zuckerberg that he would spend the rest of his life in prison, and soon after, Trump's Meta and Instagram social media accounts were restored. Zuckerberg is making efforts to mend his relationship with Trump, and now even the content moderation policy has shifted towards conservatives. Zuckerberg said that due to Meta's many mistakes, the Fact-Checking Project must be scrapped. Meta will refer to X's Community Notes mechanism to review content, but X is also under investigation by the European Union because Community Notes may not be transparent, fair, and may spread inappropriate terrorist content.

Conservatives in power reduce immigration and limit discussions on gender identity

Meta cancels the US fact-checking project, which will reduce the restrictions on community discussions on immigration and gender identity. This new policy is equivalent to leaning towards conservatives, allowing radical criticisms of homosexuality, illegal immigration, and abortion to be protected by the US Constitution under the guise of freedom of speech, enabling conservatives and right-wingers to openly criticize minority groups. The dissolution and reorganization of the fact-checking team are significant changes to Meta's political content review mechanism, which will affect Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, three social media platforms with over 3 billion users worldwide.

Meta seeks to promote loyalty and elevate Trump's friends and conservatives into the core of management.

Meta is considering having Joel Kaplan, the Republican policy chief, take over as head of global affairs. Kaplan has been accused by a Facebook whistleblower of favoring Republicans to please them in content moderation. Meta has also elected new directors to the board, including Dana White, the CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and a close friend of Trump.

Zuckerberg said that Meta will stop scanning for hate speech or other types of violations, and will only review such posts based on user reports. Meta will focus its automated scanning on "highly serious illegal activities" such as terrorism, child exploitation, drugs, and fraud. Meta will move the team responsible for content policy and review from California to Texas and other areas of the United States.

Musk supports 'freedom of speech' in his post.

Zuckerberg wants to abolish the fact-checking team, Musk immediately applauds and says This is Cool! (太酷了)

Zuckerberg plans to implement a community annotation note similar to X used by Musk to review inappropriate content. Currently, the abolition of the fact-checking project will only be adjusted and implemented in the U.S. market and will not be implemented in the EU or other countries.

Musk's X Community Annotations Note Investigated by the European Union

The commentary notes of X by Musk have not been recognized by the EU and are now under investigation by the European Commission, which has formally initiated legal proceedings to assess whether X has conducted risk management or violated the terms of the Digital Services Act, such as "non-transparency" and "dark mode". The Commission has decided to launch a lawsuit investigation against X regarding the case where illegal infringing content was disseminated on X when Hamas launched terrorist attacks against Israel.

The EU's Digital Services Act, which will take effect in 2023, requires platforms such as X and Meta to combat illegal and content harmful to public safety. Any non-compliant company will be fined 6% of its global revenue. Meta has stated that it will gradually introduce community annotations in the US region in the coming months and make improvements within a year.

The European Commission has taken note of Meta's recent statements and will continue to monitor the company's compliance in the EU.
