On August 22, Pennsylvania House Democrat Ben Waxman introduced legislation aimed at "prohibiting officials from profiting from Crypto Assets during their tenure." Waxman submitted the HB1812 bill on Wednesday, with the support of eight Democratic co-sponsors. This is his response to the so-called "corruption" behavior perpetuated by U.S. President Donald Trump at the federal level. The Pennsylvania lawmaker accused Trump of profiting from Crypto projects such as his Meme coin TRUMP and pushing for the loosening of federal regulations on the Crypto Assets market to "shelter these plans from scrutiny."
