New Pattern of SVM Ecosystem: Sonic, SOON, and Solayer Lead the Solana Execution Environment Revolution
SVM Technology Leading the Blockchain Execution Environment Revolution
With the continuous evolution of the Web3 ecosystem, the focus of Blockchain technology has shifted from the "narrative struggle" to the "execution environment revolution." In this revolution, the Solana virtual machine (SVM) is gradually becoming a key force in reconstructing the technological paradigm of smart contract execution layers.
SVM, as the execution environment of the Solana network, is specifically designed to address scalability and user experience challenges. Compared to the traditional Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), SVM offers faster transaction speeds and lower Gas fees. Most importantly, SVM supports parallel processing of transactions, avoiding the queuing limitations of transaction processing in EVM, thus maintaining high efficiency and low costs even during periods of high demand.
In the SVM ecosystem, the three projects Sonic, SOON, and Solayer stand out with different technical paths and market strategies, becoming important driving forces for the new narrative of Solana in 2025.
The positioning of the SOON project is similar to "Movement in SVM", dedicated to bringing SVM to all Layer 1 public chains. It does not rely on the Solana mainnet, but instead offers flexible scalability through the SOON Stack. This design allows any Layer 2 of a public chain ecosystem to enjoy the advantages of SVM, greatly optimizing the developer experience and providing a more reasonable fee structure.
The Solayer project starts from the staking ecosystem and gradually expands into the SVM technology field. Its innovation lies in proposing the "Infiniband RDMA technology," aiming to achieve one million TPS and 100 Gbps processing capability. Solayer's hardware acceleration solution offloads key blockchain operations to specialized hardware components, with the hope of achieving a 1 millisecond transaction confirmation time.
Sonic SVM focuses on game scenarios, primarily targeting high concurrency and instantaneous transaction demands. It is built on the HyperGrid framework, allowing developers to write applications in the EVM environment but execute them on Solana, significantly lowering the development threshold. In addition, Sonic has launched the TikTok mini-program SonicX, which generates a wallet linked to the TikTok account for users through a simplified login method, reducing the entry barrier to Web3.
These three projects each have their own characteristics: Sonic SVM focuses on optimizing the gaming experience on the chain, Solayer is dedicated to improving efficiency and expanding the ecosystem, while SOON is community-centered, extending SVM to the entire Blockchain world. Their innovative initiatives not only reflect the new demands for infrastructure in the market but also foreshadow the challenges that the traditional EVM architecture may face.
As users' demand for fast, low-cost, and high-experience services continues to grow, the innovation of SVM is redefining Blockchain infrastructure, promising to bring broader development space for future decentralized applications.
