Recalling the scene when I first came into contact with the Ethereum yellow paper, the opening phrase "shared state single-column state machine" left a deep impression. This high level of abstraction of the computational model is truly admirable. Later, I learned that this far-reaching document was authored by Gavin Wood.
Gavin Wood subsequently founded the Polkadot project. Although Polkadot has faced numerous challenges during its development, the team has consistently persevered in advancing the project. Recently, Polkadot launched a technical upgrade called JAM, which continues to optimize the abstract concept of a decentralized world computer. Interestingly, this technical document is referred to as the "grey paper", showcasing the project's ongoing innovation while maintaining traditions.
The JAM upgrade is undoubtedly an important milestone in the Polkadot ecosystem. It not only reflects the team's commitment to the original vision but also demonstrates the continuous evolution of blockchain technology in both conceptual and implementation aspects. This evolution from "yellow" to "gray" symbolizes how technical documentation keeps pace with the times while maintaining core principles.
As an industry observer, I look forward to delving into the specifics of the JAM upgrade to better understand its impact on the decentralized computing paradigm. This is not only related to the future development of Polkadot but may also provide new avenues of thought for the technological direction of the entire blockchain industry.
