To prevent long-term claims, it was once planned to "remove" Iran's Supreme Leader, but no suitable opportunity was found.

According to a report by Jin10, Israeli Defense Minister Katz stated in an interview with Israel's Channel 13 that during the Israel-Iran conflict, Israel had planned to "eliminate" Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei but was unable to find a suitable opportunity. Katz said, "If he comes into our line of sight, we will take action." He added, "We had hoped to eliminate Khamenei, but we did not find a feasible operational timing." When asked if he had sought U.S. approval for the operation, Katz replied, "We do not need to obtain permission for such matters."
