Former U.S. President Donald J. J. Trump was convicted of at least one felony in a criminal case allegedly paying hush money to a porn star on the eve of the 2016 election. He is the first U.S. president to be declared a felon, a stain that will accompany him in his quest for re-election.

Prosecutors at the trial described Mr. Trump as defrauding the American people on 34 counts of falsifying business records, arguing that he had concealed information from his predecessor, the problem-solver, Michael Brown. The true use of the money paid by D. Cohen. Protocol to the records, records disguised the payments as ordinary legal fees, when in fact Mr. Trump was repaying Cohen for a $130,000 hush money agreement with porn star Stormy Daniels to block her claims about sexual relations with Mr. Trump.
