Cardano Launches Midnight Airdrop Portal for ADA and XRP Users
Cardano has officially opened the Glacier airdrop claim portal, marking the first phase of the Midnight (NIGHT) token distribution. This highly anticipated event gives 33.6 million eligible addresses across eight major blockchains a chance to claim free NIGHT tokens.
How the Airdrop Works
The claim portal supports addresses from Cardano, XRP Ledger, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, Avalanche, and Basic Attention Token (BAT). Users can claim their NIGHT tokens in four steps:
Visit the Glacier claim portal and connect the origin address that qualified for the airdrop.
Enter a destination address to receive the tokens.
Accept the terms and conditions.
Sign the transactions to finalize the claim.
This first phase of the airdrop, called Glacier, will run for 60 days. After that, the Scavenger Mine phase will start, giving users a chance to earn unclaimed tokens by completing computational tasks. A third phase, called Lost-and-Found, will later allow any remaining eligible users to claim leftover tokens before the rest are sent to the Midnight treasury.

Token Distribution
Cardano holders are set to receive the largest share of the NIGHT supply. According to the allocation plan:
50% of NIGHT (12 billion tokens) is reserved for ADA holders.
20% (4.8 billion) goes to Bitcoin addresses.
The remaining 30% (7.2 billion) is split equally among XRP, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, Avalanche, and BAT users, with 1.2 billion tokens per network.
Here’s a breakdown of eligible addresses by network:
ADA: 1,072,307
BTC: 17,562,278
XRP: 2,213,942
ETH: 7,862,092
SOL: 3,465,122
BNB: 1,213,677
AVAX: 227,793
BAT: 24,605
The number of tokens each user receives depends on their holdings at the snapshot used for eligibility.

Airdrop Hype and Community Reaction
The portal launch comes just one day after Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson teased it with a cryptic post on X that read “tomorrow kids” alongside a GIF saying “So it begins.”
The Cardano community responded quickly, with many users excited to claim their free NIGHT tokens and participate in the multi-phase distribution. Meanwhile, this airdrop also highlights Cardano’s push to expand its ecosystem beyond ADA, aiming to bring cross-chain users into the Midnight project.
