The U.S. military claims to have conducted airstrikes against the extremist group "Islamic State" branch in Somalia.

On June 2, Jin10 reported that the U.S. military stated that it conducted airstrikes against the extremist organization "Islamic State" Somalia branch. According to a statement released on the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) official website, on June 1 local time, U.S. Africa Command coordinated with the Federal Government of Somalia to carry out airstrikes against the extremist organization "Islamic State" Somalia branch (ISIS-Somalia). The statement indicated that the airstrike took place 72 kilometers south of Bosaso, Somalia, where the extremist organization "Islamic State" Somalia branch has shown the willingness and capability to attack U.S. forces.
